State of the art mowing
RoadMaster® Frequently Asked Questions
What are the most common uses of the RoadMaster® slope mowing tractor?
The RoadMaster is specifically designed for roadsides, airports and other large areas that need to be maintained. This hydraulically driven tractor has steering wheel directional control. Since it cuts a swath of seven feet and safely operates on slopes of up to 31°, it is truly an industrial mowing tractor. The RoadMaster® can be driven at up to 11 mph while mowing to cover a lot of terrain in minimal time and drives at 24 mph to return home, with the Rear Towed Cutter attached.
What if you need even more cutting ability than the RoadMaster®’s standard seven foot swath?
The RoadMaster® has an optional Rear Towed Cutter that includes two additional cutter decks, each equipped with two 3/8” x 4” x 36” hardened alloy steel blades. The optional towed cutters increase the maximum cutting width to 15’ 7”. Hydraulic controls in the cab allow the operator to raise, lower and engage the blades on each deck independently. Other competitive tractor drawn rotary mowers cannot raise or lower the towed deck on one side, making it much more difficult for competitive machines to trim next to fences or other objects.
How long does it take to attach or detach the optional Rear Towed Cutters?
With a minimum of training, an operator can attach or detach the optional Rear Towed Cutter in only 1 1/2 minutes!
The RoadMaster® with the optional Rear Towed Cutter can operate on slopes of up to 20°. The RoadMaster® without the optional towed cutter can operate on 31° slopes.
What kind of terrain will the RoadMaster® slope mowing tractor cut?
With an 80 HP diesel engine and unique cutter deck design, the machine can be used in the roughest mowing applications. Grass that is 8” to 2’ high can be mowed to a cutting height of 4” to 8”. The RoadMaster™ even provides the ability to trim to within 2 1/2” of either side of the front deck.
What is the advantage of a mower that can travel at speeds of up to 24 mph and what keeps it from jackknifing when operating at high speeds?
In the mowing mode, the RoadMaster® offers great efficiency by cutting rough terrain at up to 10 mph. When the job is finished, the operator can put this tough mower in its high speed range and travel safely at up to 24 mph. This capability reduces the need to trailer the mower from one location to another and speeds up completion of the mowing process. On the RoadMaster®, a special mechanism allows the optional Rear Towed Cutter to be hitched directly to the drive wheel’s axle, preventing jackknifing. Dangerous loss of control and jackknifing often occurs with competitive machines, because the towed cutter is attached to a tongue that protrudes behind the mower.
What is the significance of the RoadMaster® design with a cutter deck in front of the machine?
When roadways are mowed with farm type tractors pulling mower attachments, the operator must continually look to the rear. This situation is hazardous and causes numerous accidents from the inability to watch for obstacles up ahead of the machine. Kut Kwick specifically designed the RoadMaster® with the cutter deck out in front, to allow the operator to look straight ahead. All the controls on the RoadMaster® are ergonomically located for safety and convenience.
